Sir Shaun and Notts Racing legend El Bravo in the winners enclosure at Pontefract

The business is run by Shaun and his business partner Helen and they have around 25-30 horses in training at any one time, Shaun holds a Combined Training licence permitting the training of both flat and NH (jump) horses.

Shaun has been involved with horses from an early age, his late father had a successful horse transport business and his mother ran a stud and prepared horses for the sales. Mucking out before school and evening stables afterwards was the normal routine for Shaun and he became a jockey after leaving school. Later on he ran his own transport business focusing mainly on racehorses and the contacts made led him to become an assistant trainer.

Shaun always wanted to become a trainer and is passionate about his career. He has held a full trainer’s licence for 8 years now.

In his own words “I always dreamed of being a trainer and it is a privilege to get the chance, even if life is occasionally tough. There is a nothing I like better than getting a horse to reach its full potential and I am willing to give horses the time they need”.
