Cassie in the paddock at Uttoxeter

Cassie thrilled her loyal owners with an excellent run in a competitive novice hurdle at Uttoxeter on Sunday.

It was good to see stable amateur Aiden back in action after his recent fall and he demonstrated that he had lost none of his confidence or ability giving Cassie a lovely ride just off the pace and settling her nicely after a combination of excitement and lack of experience had resulted in a poor jump at the second.

The 4-year-old filly then settled nicely into the race and taking into account that she was the youngest horse in the race she ran on well to take 4th place.

We discovered afterwards that she had lost her front shoe and therefore on the fast ground it was no surprise that she came home very sore and it was testimony to her character that she tried so hard with such an inconvenience.

The run certainly went a long way to convincing us that she has a future over hurdles and once she has her own mark and can run in her own grade we are confident that she will be winning.

Cassie will also run on the flat given the right trip and conditions and will be a nice dual-purpose horse.
