Shaun's Weekly Newsletter 20.01.2017

Dear all

Finally… finally…. Fujin provided our first winner of 2017 in an exciting finish at Chelmsford last night. Fudge is a genuine horse who wants to please so it was good to see him finish on top. I hear our staff have been spoiling him with some carroty and minty treats, so he may get the idea that winning is a good thing!

This week we have gone through the placings with a first, second, two thirds and a fourth, so I cannot be displeased.

Diva ran well at Southwell to finish fourth and it was lovely that some of her owners were there to see her on the course as she has had some setbacks lately. Ed (Thou Swell) didn’t have the best of races as he was squeezed several times, but he came home safely and seems fine this morning.

Tommy has a case of “third-it is” although this is not his fault. The lead changed frequently at Lingfield this afternoon after our bid to win from the front was thwarted, but Tommy ran well and we were fairly beaten.

Aza Run has an entry at Fakenham next Thursday in a 2m 0-100 handicap hurdle. There are 14 entries.

Even though I have had to wait awhile for a winner thanks to a few near misses this is nothing compared to an owner-breeder who has waited 26 years for his first winner last week at Lingfield, a dedicated man indeed!
